DW Akademie is Germany's leading organization for international media development. It supports the development of free and transparent media, quality journalism, and also offers programs to boost media skills. DW Akademie supports Ghana Community Radio Network (GCRN) and offers qualification opportunities for correspondents working for major private radio stations (Joy FM, Peace FM). The goal of these activities is to strengthen the possibilities of rural populations to be informed and to enable them to participate more in social and political dialogue. DW Akademie also works with the Coalition on the Right to Information (RTI Coalition) and several district administrations on improving transparency and citizens’ access to information from public sources. DW Akademie provides support to Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) in improving the practical side of the professional training of young journalists. These activities are being financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
