General information

A Schengen Visa is intended for a short stay (e.g. tourism, visit of family members or friends, business trip) of up to 90 days within a 180-day period in the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

The German Embassy in Accra is responsible for processing visa applications of persons residing in Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The German Embassy in Accra processes Schengen visa applications on behalf of Estonia for persons residing in Ghana. The requirements for the visa application apply accordingly. All documents from Estonia have to be translated either to English or to German. Applications for other purposes (work, studies, family reunion, stays of more than 90 days) have to be filed directly with the competent Estonian Embassy in London.

The visa application must be submitted to the Schengen Embassy of the main destination of travel (determined by the purpose of travel and duration of stay).

Only submission of a complete application with all required documents will allow you to apply. Persons with incomplete applications will be turned away at the entrance and will have to book a new appointment. Applicants are requested to submit complete documents even if they regularly stay in the Schengen countries.

Receiving an Appointment

You can only apply for a visa, if you have an appointment in advance. This also applies to the former Walk-in applicants.

Due to the hight demand for appointments we have set up a waiting list for the different categories for a short term visa. Please register yourself on the waiting list in order to get an appointment.

The registration on the waiting list is FREE OF CHARGE. The Embassy does not encourage registrations to be made through agencies or any other third party offering their services against payment of a fee.

Due to the high demand for appointments, there will be waiting time between your registration on the waiting list and your actual appointment of several weeks.
Please do not ask for special appointments, these requests cannot be met.

Please read the following information regarding the specific categories for short term visa carefully BEFORE you register yourself on the waiting list:
