Visa for Vocational Training

The Consular Portal will lead you step by step through the procedure.

The following documents are needed for the application through the Consular Service Portal:

Passport- Original passport + copy of data page
- valid for at least 6 more months and at least two free pages
Birth certificatebased on first registration
School leaving certificatesWAEC-certificates: BECE and WASSCE
Curriculum vitae (CV)Including the following points:
- specification of the certificates, diplomas and qualifications obtained
- professional training
-work experience
Letter of motivation- signed by the applicant
- detailed expectations of planned stay, anticipated career and personal benefits as well as future plans
Proof of Training contract in GermanyContaining the following information:
- the time frame of the contract
- a detailed job description
- the gross annual salary
- working hours
- annual holidays
- place of work
- signed by the employer and the trainee
Detailed training plan

Proof of previous or current academic studies, if applicable


a) workers with University degree

- a German university degree
- a foreign university degree
- a Higher National Diploma

either with transcipts

b) workers with vocational training:

- German vocational qualification
- foreign professional qualification

Proof of previous work experience, if applicable- work contract
- statement of employer
- salary slips
Proof of adequate financial means- at least 822 € net/990 € gross per month for the first year for vocational training at a company
- at least 855 € net/1030 € gross per month for the first year for on-the-job training at a company
- at least 992 € net per month for the first year for training at a school
- if an unpaid preparatory German language course is being completed or if the trainee wage is lower, provision of the monthly shortfall of funds must be proven separately, for example, in the form of a blocked account
Proof of German language skills- at least B1 for qualified vocational training, otherwise as a rule at least A2,
- recognized certificate, not older than one year
- or proof of registration for a preparatory intensive language course
Health insurance- Incoming-health insurance valid from the day of entering Germany until the work contract starts
- A travel health insurance is not sufficient!
Residence permit for Ghana, if applicable- as proof of a legal residence status in Ghana
- only for applicants with a nationality other than Ghanaian, Liberian or Sierra Leonean

Your details and documents will then be checked for completeness by the embassy. You will receive feedback as to whether your documents are complete and have been submitted successfully.

You will then receive the link to book an appointment at the visa section. At this appointment, your identity and original documents will be checked, a short interview will be conducted, your biometric data (fingerprints and photo) will be recorded and the fee will be paid.

Please have the following documents ready for the interview:

Passportbiometric, in Original, valid mininum 6 months
Visa fee75,00 Euro, payable in cash in GHS at the current exchange rate of the Embassy or by credit card
1 biometric photograph- not older than 6 months
- uniform white background
- size: 3.5x4,5 cm
- not glued or stapled to the application form

The embassy must involve the competent authority in Germany in the visa procedure. Depending on previous stays, the answer may take some time. Therefore, apply for the visa in good time. We ask for your understanding that inquiries about the status of the application cannot be answered within the first 4 weeks of the application.
